The Video Game Decathlon is a 10-event, 4-week compete test of video
game skill, across all genres and all systems, to find Cincinnati's true
Ultimate Gamer!
SCHEDULE
Week #1: Games 1
& 3:
July 24 - July 29
Week #2: Games 4-6:
July 30 - Aug. 5
Week #3: Games 7-9:
Aug. 6 - Aug. 12
Week #4: Game
2 & 10 :
Aug. 13 - Aug. 19
1) When a gamer is ready to set their score, they will let a Game Junkie
official know, whom will come to the station and witness their attempt. If you
do not get a Game Junkie official and declare to them your intention, then your
score will not count.
You only get *one* chance to attempt a score for each week.
2) Score attempts can be made at *any* time during regular Game
Junkie hours, which are 11a-9p from Monday to Saturday, and 12p-5p on Sunday,
so you come in when it's best for you! You can also attempt your score at
Friday Night Live, every Friday night from 9 PM to 1 AM
3) Should there be a issue with the controller, television or game system
during a score attempt, the official reserves the right to allow a restart,
which will take place immediately after the issue is resolved (a.k.a. no
practicing in-between!)
4) Gamers can come in and practice each event as much as they want during the
course of the week. Sharing of practice time will be enforced if it is not done
voluntarily, and gamers making their official run take precedence over
practice.
5) Gamers are required to attempt a score for all three games of that
particular week. The deadline for attempting a store is closing time on the
final day of that week.
6) Should you have to miss a week for any reason, you are allowed to make-up
one week's worth of events. Should you miss more then one scheduled week, you
will be ineligible for the grand prize, but still eligible for single-game
prizes.
1) Each game will be scored by either points, time, or a combination of both.
Scoring rules will be posted at each Decathlon station for the respective game.
2) In each event, points are given out based on your rank and the number of
participants. For example, if you finish first in a game, and we have 100
participants, you will receive 100 points. Second place will receive 99, et
cetera. In addition, bonus points will be given to the Top 5 players of each
game as follows:
So the final scoring, should we have 100 players, would be as
follows:
(Each subsequent player gets one less point for their rank)
3) Gamer who do not complete a given event will receive zero points
for that event.
4) The gamer with the most points at the conclusion of the Decathlon will be
crowned the champion and win the grand prize. In the event of a tie, we will
have a tie-breaker game at the Closing Ceremonies which will determine the
Decathlon winner.
1) Gamers are expected to always be polite when they are in the store and show
good sportsmanship, courtesy to other customers in the store, and no cursing or
foul language.
2) Questions about scoring, game rules, and any other questions can be directed
to any Game Junkie employee, we'll help you with anything you want to know!
