So if I read this correctly, the business model Sony may use for what amounts to "Gran Turismo 4.5" will be ALL microtransaction. You get one car, one track, one level, and you add everything with a microtransaction.
By their math, if they did it right, everything in the game could cost hundreds of dollars! I get the need for microtransactions, but this seems like an insane amount of work that has to be done.
(And if they are truly going to do this all with microtransactions, surely they should implement a system where you can also download more tracks and cars based on how much you play the game, so that if you were dedicated enough to keep playing, maybe you could avoid a decent chunk of that cost, yet build popularity)
Maybe I'll expound on that idea in my blog .... we'll see. But anyways, read the article and post your thoughts. Is this microtransactions gone wild or the wave of the future? _________________ -Sir Scooter Von Vieth XII

And the game is only a prologue!
The model is neat, but younger gamers will have a hard time convincing their parents to let them dl lots of stuff. Parents see a game's price as fixed when purchased at our store. And ONLY our store. |

That's very true. I've offered on my blog the idea that maybe, along with allowing things to be paid for, these "points" need to be accessible through other means, including through some in-game efforts.
The hardcore gamer who buys their game from GJ and just wants to play and play and play should get something for their efforts, and it seems like some mix of microtransactions and in-game reward (in the form of those transaction points) could take something that looks daunting and turn it into a success. _________________ -Sir Scooter Von Vieth XII

I can only think that you would assume the car selection of the host for that game, or maybe a combination of your cars and theirs, not sure. _________________ -Sir Scooter Von Vieth XII
